The u16A team had an interesting morning out at De Kuilen. The boys were ready after the Paul Roos match, and wanted to keep the standards they set the week before. This was always going to be difficult and one the boys ultimately failed to do, but what they did achieve was grinding out an ugly win in difficult circumstances.

They were not fantastic, nor did they set the field alight with an attacking display worthy of their talent, something the boys have been working hard on for the last few weeks. The tries they scored were well executed and finished well, but many went a-begging because of simple laziness at re-alignment and running onto the ball. When they were allowed to play rugby, it was at times confusing as to what they wanted to achieve and as such simple errors crept into their game.

The boys did well to actually win the game, where earlier in the year they may have let it slip, so for that fact they kept their heads on, and played the situations in front of them, frustrating at times, but they pulled through with the win in the end.

It has been a difficult 5 weeks prior to this match, emotionally and physically so for the boys to be up for a dog fight was good to see, and makes the coaches happy and proud to see the boys follow the teams mantra of never giving up even when it may be easier to do so.

Now for Primrose at home this weekend, the boys are up for it to display their talents once again and to try things they may have kept bottled up because of a lack of belief in their own abilities. Time will tell how much of those mental shackles they release in the remaining fixtures this term.
